Our grade 12 chemistry class ‘grew’ metal tress suspended in a gel by Redox displacement reactions. Pieces of metal were placed in gels containing a different metal ion and tree-like structures grew. The results are spectacular! We propose to create artistic interpretations from photos taken of these gels, combined with digital image manipulation. These raw images were taken of the trees magnified with a stereomicroscope. The project is to modify, enhance and give interpretation to the images.
