What is the darkling beetle’s favourite food? Mealworms and adult beetles are released into a box containing different grains and cereals arranged into a pattern. The beetles are photographed periodically as they roam around the box, allowing observers to deduce which food they prefer, and watch the pattern slowly change.

My explorer’s heart has led me to a life of continual experimentation. I finished a master’s in biochemistry and had fun applying it as a host at the Ontario Science Centre and as a medical writer. I’ve written curriculum for Visions of Science and love rowing and SCUBA diving.
